We’ll be looking at the story of Samson found in Judges 13-16. Most people know the “Sunday School” version of Samson. It goes something like this: God blessed Samson with supernatural strength, but he made one little mistake when he shared the secret of his strength with Delilah. She betrayed him and he was taken captive by his enemies. But God forgave him and got his strength back for one final act of power in which he destroyed his enemies. Samson messed up, but he was the “hero.”
That’s not really how the story goes. We’ll look at Samson’s life in greater detail. And what we’ll find is that Samson, for all his conquests, is actually more like a villain than a hero.
